Recipe Blog Theme
This is a sample theme for a recipe blog with a focus on sweets and desserts. It was created as project #2 of my Spring 2021 Web Development Challenge meta-project. While a real-life implementation of the theme would probably need to be built into something like Wordpress, this simply provides two static HTML pages, with CSS styles written with the LESS preprocessor.
I had been visiting a lot of different food blogs around the time I started designing this, pursuing my personal dream of becoming mediocre at more than just web development, and one thing that stands out when you've seen enough of them is that they all use basically the same layout. Breaking that conventional style was a big goal for me here, and I think I mostly managed to pull it off - I'm happy with how the use of imagery and colors gives each of the featured recipes a distinct look and feel.
Unfortunately, the overall theme suffers from a lack of foresight in layout, which ended up being a running theme throughout the entire project. As a result, the mobile layout looks distinctly more polished than the desktop view.
